Chair Chi is a gentle, seated movement program developed by Pat Griffith that adapts traditional Tai Chi Chuan into an accessible chair-based format. It is designed to support individuals of varying abilities, including those with mobility limitations, balance challenges, assistive device use, or who are non-ambulatory. In this training, founder Pat Griffith guides participants through the foundational Chair Chi sequence, beginning with Chi Gung warm-up exercises. Participants will also learn adaptations for diverse populations, including older adults, individuals with Parkinson’s disease, veterans with PTSD, and children with ADHD.
Benefits may include improved balance, flexibility, range of motion, strength, circulation, breathing capacity, and coordination, as well as reduced stress, anxiety, and discomfort, and enhanced relaxation, focus, and overall well-being.
The workshop also includes chair-based massage, yoga-inspired stretching, breathwork/meditation techniques, and the full Chair Chi form (dance sequence), preparing participants to integrate Chair Chi into professional settings to support wellness, engagement, and quality of life.
Participants will receive:
- Chair Chi lifetime certification
- 42-minute Chair Chi instructional video (digital access)
- 35-page Chair Chi training manual
- 7 hours (0.7 CEUs) of pre-approved continuing education for NCTRC and CBRTC
- 7 CEC approved hours NCCAP and APNCC
