Activities for Mindfulness and Creative Expression
This 1.5-hour session explores mindfulness, the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), and creative expression as therapeutic tools for emotional well-being. Participants will engage in EFT tapping for stress relief and a creative arts activity such as mindful drawing, movement, meditation, and poetry. The session covers evidence-based practice (EBP) strategies, including research supporting EFT and methods for documenting client outcomes. It also focuses on developing individualized, person-centered goals to align mindfulness and creative techniques with diverse client needs.
By the end of this session, attendees will be able to:
- Demonstrate a mindfulness technique, practice one, and explain its benefits for stress relief.
- Apply evidence-based TR practices by integrating mindfulness and creativity into treatment goals.
- Facilitate one creative activity to enhance emotional expression with diverse populations.

Dr. Keelin Jardin is a certified Recreation Therapist and Laughter Yoga instructor with a passion for promoting wellness and emotional well-being. She holds a PhD in Mind-Body Medicine and specializes in therapeutic recreation, creative interventions, and mind-body practices. With extensive experience in both academic and clinical settings, Keelin has worked with diverse populations, focusing on stress reduction, mental health, and holistic healing. Keelin is also a California State University, East Bay lecturer and a Recreation Therapy Consultant
